In 2025, I graduated from the University of Iowa with a PhD in English Literature, an MA in Library and Information Science, and certificates in Digital Humanities and Book Studies. At the heart of my research is an intense interest in how people have communicated from the Middle Ages to today, how that communication can be distorted, and the consequences of such distortions. My dissertation—and current book project—examines the crucial but often overlooked role of medieval messengers, both as essential purveyors of information and as literary devices through which medieval authors explored the fragility of communication in the medieval world system.

I have long been fascinated by stories—their purpose, their potency, and their power—and I strive to bring this excitement into the classroom. In my classes, we explore how narratives shape our lives, beliefs, and identities. Stories are intertwined with who we are, so we work to understand other people through their stories, while learning the importance of telling our own.
