Biography

Sophia Craig is a PhD candidate interested in 19th/20th century American novels and short stories. She plans to incorporate psychoanalysis and gender studies into her research on the impacts domesticity and society have on the individual. Alongside her PhD, she is working towards a MA in Library & Information Science and a Book Studies certificate through the Center for the Book. Sophia also tutors at the Writing Center and is a teaching assistant for rhetoric. 

 

Before attending the University of Iowa, Sophia earned her BA at Purdue University where she studied English literature, creative writing, and classics. During her time as an undergraduate, she took charge in reviving The Bell Tower, the only student literary magazine on campus. She also acted as an editorial assistant for the Modern Fiction Studies journal as well as the Indianapolis-based food magazine Edible Indy.
