Get to know Justin
Justin Cosner was born in California where he began his study of English Literature and Creative Writing. He taught Rhetoric and Journalism before joining Iowa’s English Department in 2025.
His primary research and teaching interests are 19th and 20th century literature and video games, science fiction, religion and secularity, media theory, and political theory. His recent research includes chapters on religion in Philip K. Dick, the politics of hope in Ursula Le Guin, and procedural representations of national borders in video games. His ongoing projects include a chapter on masculinity and modern literary studies and a monograph on teaching in a politically polarized era.
