I teach general education literature courses for the University of Iowa. UI is my home institution; I completed my undergraduate degree, master’s, and doctorate in English from our Department of English. I also hold a graduate certificate in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies from UI.
My current research focuses on the way poets frame documents within poetry and poetry as a document in the 20th and 21st centuries. On the theory side, my interests include feminist and queer theory, document cultures, intertextuality, and the intersection of ethics and law in contemporary poetry. In addition to poetics, I’m fascinated by the rich and varied feminist literary tradition of revising fairy tales and folklore. My current creative project is in conversation with this tradition, exploring German and Norwegian folklore’s influence on the state of Iowa, particularly as immigration disrupted indigenous communities and their stories.
