Zaina Arafat, NWP ’13, published essays in The New York Times, Virginia Quarterly Review, and VICE.

Catina Bacote, NWP ’13, published “We Carried Ourselves Like Villagers,” which was subsequently anthologized in This Is the Place: Women Writing About Home (Seal Press, 2017). She also held residencies at Willapa Bay, Djerassi, Hedgebrook, Headlands Center for the Arts Residency, and Ragdale. 

Angela Balcita, NWP ’05, published a Modern Love essay in The New York Times in 2007, which was read by comedian Sarah Silverman for the Modern Love podcast in the spring of 2017. 

Amy Bernhard, NWP ’14, published essays in The Rumpus, Hazlitt, Volume 1 Brooklyn, Catapult, Entropy Magazine, The Iowa Review, Upstreet, Ninth Letter, The Colorado Review, and The Michigan Quarterly Review.

Amy Butcher, NWP ’12, published work in The New York Times, Harper’s, Brevity, and The American Scholar, and her essays were anthologized in Best Travel Writing 2016, Beautiful Flesh: A Body of Essays, and Best of Vela.

Erica Cavanagh, NWP ’04, was in residence at the Millay Colony for the Arts and received the Mid Atlantic Arts Fellowship. Her essay "To the Inescapable Teacher" also appeared in the magazine Off Assignment.

Matthew Davis, NWP ’07, published "America's Deaf Team Tackles Identity Politics" in The Atlantic. 

Olivia Dunn, NWP ’14, published "Three Adjunct Professors Contemplate Mortality in a Forever 21 Dressing Room" in McSweeney's Internet Tendency and "On Your Saturn Return" in Shantih Journal. 

Rachel Faldet, NWP ’87, published “Queen Maud of Norway: A Homesick Immigrant (1869-1938)” in Vesterheim. 

Tom Montgomery Fate, NWP ’87, published "Fishing for My Father" in Fourth Genre. 

Ori Feinberg, NWP ’08, published essays, poetry, and fiction in Essay Daily, The Billfold, Mid-American Review, Neologism Poetry, Yes Poetry, ZiN Daily, Passages North and Reservoir Lit.

Stephanie Elizondo Griest, NWP ’12, published "The Disciplined Utopia" in The Believer and her essay "Chiefing in Cherokee" was anthologized in The Best American Travel Writing. 

Cecile Goding, NWP ’99, published new work in Southern Humanities Review, Fourth River, and Lyrical Iowa. 

Will Jennings, NWP ’97, published “Such as Ground, So Close to Air” in Fourth Genre. 

Kevin Koch, NWP ’92, published an excerpt of his book The Driftless Land (2010) in The Driftless Reader, published by the University of Wisconsin Press, 2017.

Aviya Kushner, NWP ’06, has published new translations in Poetry International, The Tupelo Quarterly, RHINO, The Catamaran Literary Reader, and Waxwing. 

Chansi Long, NWP ’14, published essays in The Washington Post and Riverteeth. 

Clint Crockett Peters, NWP ’13, published essays in Crab Orchard Review, Orion, and The Rumpus. He also received the Rafael Torch Literary Nonfiction Award, was a Finalist for the Pinch Literary Awards and a finalist for Creative Nonfiction’s Learning from Nature Contest. 

Dale Rigby, NWP ’92, published "On Rimrocking Right" in Fourth Genre. 

Dan Roche, NWP ’95, published "Emptying Eddie's Garage" in Chautauqua, which was the runner-up for the Editor's Award and nominated for a Pushcart Prize. 

Helen Rubinstein, NWP ’14, published "Is There Something Queer about Being Single?" in The New York Times. She also received fellowships from Wildacres, Ox-Bow School of the Arts, I-Park Foundation, Hambidge Foundation, Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and Jentel Foundation.

Spenser Mestel, NWP ’16, published essays in Rolling Stone, Men’s Health, and Vice. 

Nancy G. Wyland, NWP ’11, published "Internet Dating after Divorce" in the Wapsipinicon Almanac.
