English Society presents, "Doc John Open Mic"

February 27, 2017 - 7:00pm
Gerber Lounge, 304 EPB

Come celebrate the power of storytelling at the English Society's very own Doc John Open Mic. Named after the 18th century scholar and writer Doctor Samuel Johnson who chronicled the lives of many struggling artists, the Doc John Open Mic is meant to provide a place for artists, creators, and all peoples to share their own stories in honor of Dr. Johnson and the storytellers of this moment. In 2017, the importance and strength of a story has never been greater, so we invite you to come share your work (anywhere from essays to songs to nature poems) on what we hope will be an inspiring night. This event will also feature a guest reading by Provost Visiting Poet Ryan Tucker.

To sign up in advance and reserve a spot, email: (austin-hughes@uiowa.edu) Otherwise, walk-ins are more than welcome. We can't wait to see you there!
