Add/Drop Procedures

Students may add, drop, or change sections or semester hours for semester-long courses on MyUI through the first five days of the semester.  On the sixth day of the semester, students will need advisor's signature to drop.  This is all done online now through MyUI. After you drop a course online you MUST notify your advisor so that they can do the 2nd step of approving the drop.  Then you do the last step to finish it up.  Check your schedule a day later to make sure it has dropped off of there and off of ICON. 

Students who are taking online courses through the Division of Continuing Education may request to add or drop courses via email rather than completing a paper form.  Students should email dce-registration@uiowa.edu and give them the course number and student I.D. number.  The student should copy their instructor and their advisor.  The advisor will give her permission in response to that email and DCE will then conduct the "drop".  

Check here to see deadlines and signatures needed to drop or add any class.  Department would be ENGL, CW, CNW for our courses.  If you need the Dean's signature you should go to 120 SH after you've received advisor's signature.

Fall 2017 Deadlines:

August 27th: Last day to add or drop semester-length courses on MyUI without Advisor approval

August 28th: Need add slip to add semester-length course; need Advisor approval top drop course on MyUI

Sept 1st: Last day to drop an individual course in order to reduce tuition and last day to drop without a W

Last day to change to a P-N or audit status

Sept 29th: Degree applications due for seniors graduating December 2017

October 30th: Last day to drop semester length course without the dean's approval.  Notify advisor by October 29th ideally.

November 6th-17th: Winter and Spring Early Registration

November 13th: Last day to withdraw from all fall courses

November 19th-26th: Thanksgiving Break

December 8th: Last day of classes

December 11th-15th: Final Exam Week

December 16th: CLAS graduation ceremony
