NWP Students Cardenas, Singh, McGonigle, Sudbeck, and Cicchi Receive NWP Summer Research Awards
Five Nonfiction Writing Program students were awarded NWP Summer Research Awards this year: second year Rachel Sudbeck, and first years Andrew Cardenas, Sanjna Singh, Dylan McGonigle, and Andy Tan-Delli Cicchi. Each writer will receive $1000 to pursue a summer writing project.
NWP alum Spenser Mestel, who has written for The New York Times, The Atlantic, VICE, Rolling Stone, and other publications, judged this year's awards. He writes about the winning proposals: "I'm as impressed by the ideas themselves in these proposals as I am by the ways in which your students want to go about telling them, especially the deep commitment many of them have expressed to research, including interviews, archival work, and on-the-ground reporting."
