Nonfiction Writing Program student Darius Stewart, NWP 2020, was awarded this year's 2020 Nonfiction Writing Fellowship from The Englert Theatre in Iowa City. Stewart, a nonfiction writer and poet who has an MFA in poetry from the Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas at Austin, will receive working space close to the theater and complimentary tickets to Englert events. He will give a public reading at the end of his fellowship, and his work will be featured in the Englert playbill magazine Stages.
Stewart said in an official statement: “I extend my many thanks to Andre Perry and his colleagues on the Englert Committee for selecting me for the Englert Nonfiction Fellowship. In addition to forging a relationship with the Englert staff, I aim to take full advantage of this opportunity to become more engaged in the Iowa City arts community. I can’t say enough how truly honored I am for this recognition."
