Krause Essay Prize Ceremony Honoring Keum Suk Gendry-Kim
On Thursday, October 29th, the Nonfiction Writing Program celebrates the winner of the 2020 Krause Essay Prize: the graphic novel GRASS by Korean artist Keum Suk Gendry-Kim. This online award ceremony will feature Ms. Gendry-Kim and translator Janet Hong reading from the book, which explores the harrowing experiences of Lee Ok-Sun, a Korean woman forced into sexual slavery for the Japanese Imperial Army during WWII. Questions will follow.
