Iowa Prize for Literary Nonfiction submissions currently accepted

October 15, 2015 to December 15, 2015

The Nonfiction Writing Program has just entered a long-term partnership with the University of Iowa Press to host and judge an annual book prize aimed specifically at publishing top-notch nonfiction.

The Iowa Prize for Literary Nonfiction will be awarded annually to a manuscript of any sort of nonfiction: memoir, travelogue, biography, science & nature, literary journalism, etc. And yes, collections of essays will also be warmly and enthusiastically considered.

The prize will be unique in that our own graduate students in the NWP will serve as the contest's screeners, and the winner will be selected by the program's annual Distinguished Visiting Professor. This year, that's New Yorker staff writer and international bestselling writer Richard Preston.

The winner will be announced this spring, and the winning book will be published as early as 2017. The submission process opens Oct 15 and closes Dec 15. More info here:
