Dada Futures Symposium
Dada Futures will be held on February 16-17, 2018. This event accompanies the University of Iowa Museum of Art exhibition of the same title. Dada Futures marks the fortieth anniversary of the International Dada Archive’s establishment at the University of Iowa and explores its impact as a resource for research and artistic practice.
The exhibition, which runs from January 27-June 10 at the Richey Ballroom in the Iowa Memorial Union, includes artworks, publications, and artifacts drawn from the IDA, Fluxus West, Alternative Traditions in the Visual Arts, and other related holdings in University of Iowa Special Collections and the UIMA. We invite faculty and students interested in the avant-garde to attend the symposium events, which will include keynote lectures, panel discussions, a screening of Dada and Surrealist films, and study sessions focused on exhibited artifacts.
UIMA curator Joyce Tsai is also pleased to offer tours of Dada Futures to your students. She can also assist in developing curricular modules that incorporate the exhibition and symposium into your Spring 2018 syllabi.
We look forward to celebrating the past, present, and future of avant-garde art, literature, and performance with you and your students.
