Laura Hayes

Research Interests
Victorian Literature, the Fin de Siècle, Narrative Theory, Poetics, Body StudiesLaura is a doctoral candidate in English at the University of Iowa specializing in Victorian literature. Her research focuses on representations of bodies in motion, with a particular interest in the extremes of compulsion and composure. Attending closely to form and style, she examines how textual and figural representations of movement (or confinement) shape cultural perceptions of age, gender, class, and education.
Laura holds a master's degree from Boston College (2015) and a bachelor's from Western Washington University (2011). Currently, she teaches Rhetoric at the University of Iowa.
