Profile:
I am a PhD student in English, with an English MA from the University of Utah.  I seek to explore the intersection between Irish Modernism and Latin-American literature.  I am interested in their common backgrounds as predominantly Catholic and colonized peoples opposed to Anglo-centric empires (both UK and US), in their similar deployments of romanticism, labyrinths, and the avant-garde to promote political revolution, and in the Irish diaspora in Latin-America.

I have previously worked as a reporter in Mexico, an ELL teacher in China, and a missionary in Puerto Rico.  At Utah, I worked in the Writing Center and as a Writing Fellow for the Office of Vice-President of Research.  In addition to teaching Rhetoric at Iowa, I have taught English at Salt Lake Community College and LDS Business College.  There, I worked extensively with minority, international, and "non-traditional" students, which I found immensely rewarding.  I am a Washington state native.  My previous work has been published in West Trade Review, Sunstone, Dialogue, and WLN.
