Hannah Bonner is a current creative nonfiction MFA student at the University of Iowa. She has an MA in Film Studies from the University of Iowa and a BA in English & Creative Writing from UNC-Chapel Hill. 

Annie Burkhart (she/her) is a PhD candidate in English at the University of Iowa and a General Education Literature (GEL) instructor. Annie studies gender and sexuality in Victorian and fin de siècle culture, aiming to uncover queer influences in the literature of the period.

Torie Burns is a PhD candidate studying American literature from 1900 to the present, with an eye toward digital applications for the humanities. 

Maria Capecchi  (she/her) is an English Ph.D. candidate and General Education Literature (GEL) instructor at the University of Iowa, where she studies early modern poetry and drama, with additional concentrations in performance, book studies, and critical race theory. Maria’s research includes cross-disciplinary work with the UI Department of Theatre Arts and with the UI Center for the Book, where she has earned a graduate certificate.

Connie Chen is a nonfiction writer and visual artist undressing divine flesh in objected, abjected, and rejected bodies. She engages the intersections of psychoanalysis, queer and feminist theory, disability studies, Christian theology, and critical theory in her work.

Caroline Cheung is a PhD Candidate in English with a graduate certificate in Gender, Women’s, & Sexuality Studies. She works at the intersections of women of color feminisms, theories of state violence, transformative justice and prison abolitionism.

Tove Conway is a PhD candidate in the English Department at the University of Iowa. Her scholarship focuses on the role of women in modernist culture and explores representations of the natural world in literature and visual art.

Sophia Craig is a PhD candidate interested in 19th/20th century American novels and short stories. Sophia also tutors at the Writing Center and is a TA for rhetoric.

Rajorshi Das is a PhD candidate in English with a certificate in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies (GWSS). They study contemporary liberal queer narratives emerging out of India across print and digital platforms.

Camille Davis (she/they) is a PhD student in the English Department at the University of Iowa. They are specializing in international poetic communities with a focus on network theory and book history.

Matthew Helm is a PhD candidate in English studying 20th-21st century American literature. His dissertation explores questions related to media technology and the archive in the works of Christopher Isherwood, John Rechy, Audre Lorde, Andrea Lawlor, Harvey Fierstein, and Tony Kushner.

Conor Hilton is a PhD candidate in English at the University of Iowa, where he’s currently a General Education Literature (GEL) instructor, and a tutor in the Writing Center.

Ivo Ivanoff is an English Ph.D. candidate and General Education Literature (GEL) instructor at the University of Iowa, where he studies Victorian and British modernist fiction, with additional concentrations in narrative and the self.

Spencer Jones is an MFA candidate in the Nonfiction Writing Program. Her writing has appeared in Porter House Review and Relief: A Journal of Art & Faith and she has essays forthcoming in Black Warrior Review, Arts & Letters, and The Los Angeles Review of Books.

Liv Kane is a nonfiction writer and filmmaker interested in exploring the intersections between community storytelling and ecology. She served as the inaugural Writer-in-Residence at the San Antonio Public Library and received the New York Life Award for her work in 2019.

Maddison McGann is an English Ph.D. candidate who works on 19th-century British literature, environmental humanities, narrative theory, and the novel. Her other areas of interest include Victorian reviewing and print culture.

Jennie Sekanics is an English Ph.D. scholar and TA for Foundations of English at the University of Iowa, where she studies twentieth and twenty first century fiction, feminist theory, and trauma studies.

Kathleen Shaughnessy is an English Ph.D. candidate who works on themes of the gothic and medical science in 19th-century British literature.

Meredith Stabel is a PhD candidate in English studying American literature from 1865 to the present. She has also earned the Graduate Certificate in Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies. Her interests include Southern diasporic literature and African American literature, with a particular focus on parenthood—or the lack thereof—as a locus of violence and historical weight.

Darius Stewart is a Lulu “Merle” Johnson Fellow and PhD student in English Literary Studies with a Graduate Certificate in African American Studies, specializing in African American Literature and Culture from 1831 to the present, while also pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Gender, Women’s and Sexuality Studies.

Aileen Tierney is a PhD candidate in English at the University of Iowa. She studies avant-garde/experimental literature of the 20th-21st century with an emphasis on the emergent methodologies of the digital humanities.

Thelma Trujillo is a writer and educator from La Villita, Chicago. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in Literary and Cultural Studies from Illinois State University.

Ellie White is a first-year Ph.D. student and Teaching Assistant at the University of Iowa, where she intends to study Victorian literature and transnational coming-of-age novels.

Alexus Williams is a PhD student in English and Lulu “Merle” Johnson Fellow at the University of Iowa. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology, Outdoor Conservation, and English from Mount Mercy University and a Master of Arts in English from University of Northern Iowa.
