Research Interests

Gothic and Victorian literature; feminist pedagogy; creative nonfiction

Anna is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Iowa.  She is currently at work on her dissertation on Gothic fiction, which she is producing in podcast form under the co-direction of Jeff Porter and Judith Pascoe and with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities' "Next Generation Ph.D." project.  From 2016-2017, she served as a Production Assistant at Iowa Public Radio, where produced and co-hosted the podcast Lit City -- an exploration of the sights, sounds, and voices of America's first UNESCO City of Literature.

Anna received her M.A. in English from the University of Alabama in 2011 and her B.A. in English from Birmingham-Southern College in 2008.  Before pursuing her Ph.D., she worked as an adjunct instructor of writing at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee.  At the University of Iowa, she received the Doug Trank Memorial Award for her teaching in the Rhetoric department, and the university-wide Outstanding TA Award for her teaching in the English department.
