Kerry Howley, NWP ’11, published an article about Reality Winner in New York magazine and was featured on the “Today Show.” About Howley’s essay, legendary New Yorker writer Renata Adler said “It is the best piece of investigative journalism I have read in years.”

Kiese Laymon, the NWP’s Bedell Distinguished Visiting Professor this year, published two new books, the memoir Heavy and the novel And So On (Scribner).

Jeff Porter was named a full professor in the Department of English and Nonfiction Writing Program.

Bonnie Sunstein judged the annual Norman Mailer Foundation Award for Nonfiction, for which she has served as a board member since its founding.

Inara Verzemnieks, NWP ’13, published a debut book, Among the Living and The Dead, about which The New York Times wrote that it is “a thoughtful and engaging memoir . . . When Verzemnieks reaches the limit of what she can know, she doesn't confuse it with the limit of what can be known.”
