Ritual Hexing of a Mass Murder (streaming audio, approx 57 min.)

A ritual performed in 1980 by a coalition of feminist covens in the San Francisco Bay area in an attempt (perhaps successful?) to stop the murderer of, by that time, 7 women. Known as the "Mt. Tam Murder" and the "Trailside Killer" David Carpenter went on to murder one more woman in 1981 but he had changed his venue to Santa Cruz and this time he also tried killing the woman's boyfriend who survived. He was convicted in 1984 and sentenced to the gas chamber and later convicted of five more of the Mt. Tamalpais Park victims.

Music by the acapella group Avalanche. Featuring Z Budapest with an eloquent statement near the end by Starhawk. Produced by Karla Tonella for KPFA.
