Bluford Adams 19th Century America Bluford Adams joined the English department in 1995. His field is nineteenth-century U.S. literature and culture, with special interests in popular culture, fiction, and ethnicity. His book, E Pluribus Barnum: The Great Showman and the Making of U.S. Popular Culture (University of Minnesota Press, 1997), explores the chief cultural productions of P.T. Barnum. He is currently working on a project on the representation of Yankees and Irish Americans in Gilded Age U.S. culture. His current teaching interests include courses on immigration, ethnicity, Henry James, and Mark Twain. |
